Hutchinson freshman Zane Schmidt hit .500 and slugged 1.227 during a 4-1 week for the Blue Dragons. Schmidt hit three home runs in a key Jayhawk West series against Seward County. He had two homers in Game four alone. The Jayhawk Conference home run leader (19 for the season) moved into a tie for second place on the Blue Dragon single-season home run list. He is also tied for second in the nation with 19 homers. Schmidt hit safely in all five games played with four of the five games multi-hit games. Schmidt went 11 for 22 with 10 RBIs, two doubles, 10 runs scored and four home runs in five games last week. 

Seward County sophomore right-hander Tanner King threw an eighth inning complete game shutout against Hutchinson. He did not allow a runner past second base in the game and struck out 10 batters. This was a scheduled 7 inning game. Seward won in extra innings 7-0.
